Ball Bearings: Their Construction, Types and Designs

For the purpose of maintaining separation between the bearing races, the ball bearings, which are a type of rolling element bearings, make use of precise specifications of balls.  In different machinery and equipment, the purpose of ball bearing is to systematically reduce the rotational friction. Furthermore, the ball bearing provides effective support to axial loads.

Roller Element Bearings: Their Types and Applications

Different types of rolling element bearing used in various applications are ball bearings and roller bearings. Common type of rolling element bearing that is used in various industrial applications is ball bearing. Cylindrical roller and spherical roller are different types of roller bearings are used in different industrial applications. The rolling element bearing that uses cylinders for greater length than the diameters of the rolling element bearing is known for cylindrical roller bearings.

Working of bearings and their different types

Bearing is a rotating device that is used to reduce friction while allowing linear and rotational movements. Resembling small wheels, bearings literally allow a machine to roll over it for smooth function. The friction is reduced between the bearing and the surface which is rolled over it. The uses of bearings, while reducing friction enhance speed and efficiency.

Different Types of Rolling Element Bearings

There are about five types of rolling element bearing that are popular in various industrial applications. The rolling element bearings consist of balls rolling bearing and cylindrical rollers rolling ball bearing.  In addition to this, the rolling bearing can also be classified into spherical rollers, tapered rollers and needle rollers.
